Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
The FST is a prescribed class for applicants who may become permanent residents on the basis of their ability to become economically established in Canada as workers in a skilled trade occupation defined under IRPR, section 87.2(1) as: an occupation, unless the occupation has been designated a restricted occupation by the Minister, in the following categories listed in Skill Level B of the National Occupational Classification matrix:
- Major Group 72, industrial, electrical and construction trades;
- Major Group 73, maintenance and equipment operation trades;
- Major Group 82, supervisors and technical occupations in natural resources, agriculture and related production;
- Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators;
- Min or Group 632, chefs and cooks; and
- Prepare you for your interview should one be requested;
- Min or Group 633, butchers and bakers.
